Year 9 Pedal To County Finals

This month saw students in years 7 to 10 compete in the District mountain biking event.

Three girls in each year group competed against the other Forest schools in a 30 minute relay style event. The event takes place over two races and the team who completes the highest number of laps in the time limit wins. We are pleased to say that we were the only school in the Forest of Dean who had a team representing our school in every category and at every race. This is credit to the dedication of a number of our students to our ever growing extra curricular programme and the superb support our PE team provide to ensure our students are offered these opportunities.

Huge congratulations to our year 9 girls who dominated over the two races, lapping all of their opponents on two occasions and taking first place! They have secured themselves a place at the Gloucestershire School Games County Final in June.

We also saw success for our year 10 girls who claimed victory in the first of their two races. Unfortunately, they couldn’t replicate their performance in the second race, finishing in second place overall by the smallest of margins. The year 7 girls also secured second place after producing two very consistent performances.

Well done to all of the competitors who as always were superb and gave their all. We wish the girls lots of luck at the County Finals and look forward to hearing all about their further success.
