Farewell and Thank you
It is with much sadness that I am writing my final Heads update. When I started at Lakers as Interim Head I thought I would only be here for a few months. Eighteen months later I have become very attached to working here and will miss it. I would like to express my gratitude to the staff, pupils and parents who have made my time here so enjoyable and to wish everyone involved with the school every success and happiness for the future. I believe that the school will go from strength to strength under the leadership of Ben Parnell and the Greenshaw Learning Trust. My final act of Head will be to communicate about the examination results in August.
There is so much going on in school at the moment that I am reluctant to list every event in case I miss something out. However, last week we had an excellent Year 11 Prom (photos available here) and this week we have had Sports Day, Activities Days, Year 10 Work Experience and pupils have been taking part in the Coleford Festival of Words. At the same time, we have pupils in Kenya and Italy. My thanks to all staff who made these events possible.
Arrangements for the End of Term
In order to facilitate the end of term we shall be closing the school at 12:15pm on Friday 21st July. Arrangements have been made with the bus providers to ensure that pupils can be picked up early on that day. If this early finish causes any problems for you, please do contact the school. My apologies for the late notice.
I would like to wish the following staff all the best for the future as they leave us at the end of the term and thank them for their contribution to the school.
- Rebekah Hooper – Music
- Tee Embling – Teaching Assistant/Volunteer in Music
- Jim Evans – Science
- Angie Weston – Interim SENCO
- Lyn de-Gay – Food Technology
- Megan Riley – English
- Phil Clements – Maths
- Bailey Skelton – ICT/Pupil Services
- Joe Pritchard – History
- Sian Williams – Art
- Nolan Phillips – Teaching Assistant
Kind regards and my very best wishes to you all
