What sort of person becomes a school governor? A person just like YOU!

300,000 people across the country are already school governors, why not join them?

In September 2017, Lakers School will become an academy and join the Greenshaw Learning Trust, under a new name, Five Acres High School, and with a new Headteacher, Ben Parnell.

At the Greenshaw Learning Trust we are ambitious for our school and our students. We believe that there is no ceiling on what can be achieved by anyone, regardless of their circumstances or background. The Trust is growing fast, with six schools currently and more to come.

Each school in the Trust is led by its own leadership team and local governing body, who have the backing of the Trust to help them achieve their objectives for their school. Strong governance is key to the success of our schools, to provide strategic leadership, oversight of financial and academic performance and to challenge and support the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team.

We are looking for new governors to join the governing body of Five Acres High School in September.

If you are over 18 years of age, and are willing and able to give time and energy to the role, you could be just the person we are looking for.

This is your chance to make a real impact on a school’s success, to support children and young people in your local community and to develop your skills and knowledge which could positively impact on other parts of your life.

You will have the opportunity to apply your skills and experience to ensure the school does the best for all its pupils, and to engage with and learn more about aspects of education you find interesting.
